Garden International School Boarding House
We are extremely proud to be able to offer full time or week day only boarding facilities to any of our students above the age of 7 years old.
We offer a safe, secure environment for your children as well as a home from home with a caring and loving staff with strong family values.
We recognise the varying needs of parents to be able to use this facility and we try our best to accommodate the individual family needs of all our boarding house parents.
We believe that a strong relationship between parents and the boarding house staff is vital for the successful placement of children in boarding and to this aim we wish to maintain regular contact with the parents.
Presently our boarding house is located on a secure housing estate, located a short distance from the school itself in specially adapted terrace housing on a quiet dead end street. Our boarding house presently holds a maximum of 16 students. This allows us to offer individual attention to each student and to develop an excellent relationship between our boarding house staff, pupils and their parents.
Our boarding house is a homely place with a strong family atmosphere and ethos. We care for our students in the same way that we expect all parents should care for our children. We look to foster and develop relationships built on love, trust and good family values. Our students feel safe and secure and can relax and consider the house as their home. The houses each have their own kitchen, lounge and bedrooms. One house is for the boys and one for the girls. They have adjoining doors which are locked at night. In the third house sleep the staff as well as the youngest children. Meals are all provided as well as daily bus transport to and from school. Students share a bedroom with one or two others of the same age. We also have a computer, wifi internet throughout, UBC cable TV in the main lounge and a large swimming pool just 200m away to enjoy. Pupils are given support with their homework on a daily basis. There is also a school bus service that can take weekly boarders to Bangkok every weekend on a Friday and returns on a Sunday night. Our Full Borders have a variety of activities/ trips planned on the weekends depending on demand.
We are able to offer two types of packages to our boarding students. The first is for students who wish to stay on our premises from Sunday evening until Friday afternoon and then return home to see their parents. We call this arrangement Weekly Boarding. The second, called Full Boarding, is for pupils who stay seven days a week. This is more popular and is a convenient solution for parents whose commitments take them out of the country. The Boarding House follows the same dates as the school calendar for term times.
The Boarding House enjoys the full support of the school and is staffed by two competent and strong members of staff on a full time basis: Mr Ryan Quiwa and Ms Emmy Carandang. Mr Ryan is a warm and sincere man with excellent personnel skills, previous school teaching experience and hospitality management experience whilst Ms Emmy, a trained nurse, who has her own 12 year old child in the school is an energetic, charismatic, motherly figure for all her boarding house children! Together they are a great team who have built and nurtured an excellent family centred atmosphere for all the boarding house students to enjoy.
