Garden International School occupies a campus of nearly 17000 m2 near the town of Ban Chang, Rayong Province.
The campus is split into three sections, Foundation, Primary and Secondary
The buildings are modern, bright and well equipped. All teaching rooms are air conditioned.
Our curriculum uses the curriculum of England and Wales as its base but it is modified to reflect our setting and international intake. In years 10 and 11 students study for the IGCSE qualifications and in years 12 and 13 students follow the International Baccalureate's Diploma Programme. These and more can be read about in more detail in the relevant pages on this website.
In the Foundation and Primary the students have a class teacher. The children are with their class teacher for most of the day, except when they are with specialist teachers.
Depending on the year level, primary classes enjoy specialist lessons in Design Technology, Art, Music, Physical Education, Swimming, Thai and Thai Studies, and Spanish or Mandarin.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is an essential part of the school's ethos and this ethos is described through the school's mission statement. Pastoral Care is valued and implemented in a variety of ways by all members of staff in both the Primary and Secondary Schools.
Central to the Secondary School's ethos of pastoral care is the form tutor. All students at GIS are placed into a form group and each form group has two academic staff members assigned to it. The form tutors meet with their form groups formally twice a day. They register the form group, pass on information and notices regarding the school community and interact with the students in the group as a whole or as individuals. The form tutors are the first port of call for students regarding any concerns that the student, or the school, might have. Form tutors are there to support the student's needs and to ensure that the students can engage to their full potential, both socially and academically, within the GIS community.
GIS has a School Counsellor Programme which is part of the school pastoral care system. It is a service that students can use when they feel isolated from the usual systems of support available with the GIS community.
We also have a careers advisor to work with and advise the older students.
Management
The school is owned by MBf Taylors, a Malaysian based multinational company.
Academic matters are overseen by the Principal.
The Principal is supported by Heads of Primary and Secondary and International Baccalaureate, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary Co-ordinators. These people take care of their respective areas and form the Academic Management Team.
Scholarships
Each year we award scholarships to several students in the upper secondary and IB classes. Requests for scholarship application forms and scholarship criteria can be made to the Principal's PA, Khun Ice: shalaratt@gardenrayong.com in May.
